Borie-Manoux is one of the biggest family-owned French winery and wine merchant groups. It was founded as Borie Frères in Pauillac in 1870. After 1945 one of the brothers, Marcel Borie, took over the existing company, renaming it Borie-Manoux and moving headquarters directly to the city of Bordeaux. Marcel Borie ran the company until 1961, when his son-in-law Emile Castéja took over, taking Borie-Manoux on the trail of expansion. Until today, the Castéja family remains 100%-shareholder of Borie-Manoux and has acquired 10 Châteaux in Bordeaux. During the 20th century, Borie-Manoux also acquired a number of Négociants and opened its own production and stocking facilities on 3ha surface directly in Bordeaux.
