The Giovanni Rosso winery was founded in the early ‘90’s by the man of the same name. It was only as recently as 2000, at 27 years of age that his son Davide felt prepared to settle into the family winery and begin to take control, set on producing only wines of utmost seriousness, from his Dolcetto to his Barolo, to the extent that he wouldn’t even bottle in the weaker vintages. To ensure success he was also not too proud to turn to an old friend, the renowned consultant Giuseppe (Beppe) Caviola, one of the most important and successful consulting enologists in the area. His wines are the epitome of the Serralunga style, being forceful, of great depth and yet extremely refined and balanced, with tremendous purity of fruit. “Davide Rosso is in my opinion, the most promising young producers in Barolo, and I particularly like the fact that he seems able to think with his own head instead of just going with the crowd.”- Wine Advocate.
