Over 30 years ago, Jorge Böhm formed his business with the multifaceted selection of Portuguese vines, just called Plansel-Selection-company. His daughter, Dorina Lindemann, joined him in 1993, after finishing her studies and then founded the winery in 1997.

With her father’s help, she found out, that the old traditional varieties from Portugal, especially the vines called ‘Touriga Nacional’, ’Touriga Franca’ and ‘Tinta Barroca’, were prospering very well and were devising intense aromas. Not least because of this fact, they are the only winery in the South of Portugal, which worked exceptionally with more than 50% of these named grape varieties.

Today, the ‘Plansel’-Winery contains vineyards of the size of 65ha. It annually produces about 350.000L of wine. Not too much in terms of quantity, but they are clearly quality-oriented and the idea of ‘terroir’ means everything to them.

Lead by 2 main brands: ‘Marques de Montemor’ and ‘Plansel’ wines, all Plansel  wines are well-rated in many wine competitions.

Lately, they even won another 4 gold medals at ‘MUNDUS VINI’, which is one of the most important wine competitions in Europe.
