Shanghai, 16 January 2026 – East Meets West Fine Wines (Shanghai) Limited (EMW) and Petit Mont signed an exclusive on-trade distribution agreement for Mainland of China for its wines from Shangri-La, Yunnan. The new partnership with Petit Mont marks the expansion of EMW's Chinese wine portfolio into Shangri-La. By doing this, the geographical diversity of EMW wines is enhanced, and a wider spectrum of on-trade channel customers is exposed to the unique terroir expressions from this premier wine area.

Deqin, Shangri-La: A Unique Terroir Shaped by the Secret Highlands
The Deqin wine area of Shangri-La is located deep within the Hengduan Mountains in northwestern Yunnan, intersected by three rivers: the Nujiang, Lancang, and Jinsha Rivers. They wind through the highlands, with the Gaoligong, Meili, and Baima Snow Mountains blocking the moisture from the Indian Ocean, resulting in this steep, dry, and high-altitude canyon landscape.
Deqin's unique and pristine environment has produced a wine region that is extremely rare in the wine world: one that combines low latitude with high altitude. The low latitude provides the grapes with abundant sunlight and heat, yet the high altitude leads to the large day-night temperature swings, slowing ripening to balance sugar with acidity for fresher, more complex wines with vibrant aromas.
Also, Deqin's varying elevations allow different grape varieties to reach their optimum ripeness at specific altitudes, contributing to the area's variety diversity.
Petit Mont vineyards are distributed across five major wine regions: Helan Mountain in Ningxia, Yunnan (Deqin, Weixi), Tibet, Sichuan, and Xinjiang. Among these and at altitudes ranging from 2,000 to 2,800 meters in Deqin, Petit Mont vineyards are located in this secret highland.

Explore Possibilities of Wine Styles with Localization
Petit Mont was established in 2017 by winemaker Ma Jie, who holds a Master of Oenology degree from Northwest A&F University and has worked in viticulture and vinification for 14 vintages worldwide.
Petit Mont, a new and dynamic Chinese winery, owns 45 acres of vineyards spread over four towns in Deqin, Yunnan. Operated with strict standards and localization, it stipulates on-site fermenting and bottling, with each wine label reflecting the local culture. The Thirteen Peaks of Meili in Yunnan inspired the labels of Petit Mont Baima Snow Mountain wines, which have a clean and elegant style honoring the Shangri-La terroir.
In 2023, Bettane Desseauve awarded Ma Jie the title of "Vigneron de l'Année"; at the 2025 Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards, Petit Mont Baima Snow Mountain Cuvée Prestige Chardonnay 2023 took home a gold medal.
