East Meets West Fine Wines (EMW) is delighted to announce being appointed the exclusive importer in Mainland China for the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage (EDRH) Bordeaux properties.

The importer-distributor East Meets West Fine Wines and Edmond de Rothschild Heritage are proud to announce their exclusive partnership for the distribution in Mainland China of wines from the three Bordeaux châteaux owned by the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild: Château Clarke, Château Malmaison and Château des Laurets. This new collaboration is to launch in September 2019.

Boris Bréau先生 Managing Director for Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild 埃德蒙·德·罗斯柴尔德葡萄酒公司常务董事

Our belief in East Meets West is based on their thorough understanding of the origins, logistics and storage of wine. EMW teams also demonstrate great professionalism through their quality events and high-end distribution network.” declared Boris Bréau, Managing Director for Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild.

China remains a strategic market for leading Bordeaux winemakers. This partnership with this importer, a benchmark in the distribution of fine wines, consolidates the positions of the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage wines in Mainland China.

About Edmond de Rothschild Heritage Bordeaux wine properties:

The history of the Rothschilds really started in the middle of the 18th century when Mayer Amschel Rothschild became well-known as a businessman. He sent his five sons to five European Cities to set up branches. Rothschild establishments became a legend The passion to create and innovate has been handed down for more than 250 years within the Rothschild family. The prestige of this now legendary name shines in numerous fields: finance, philanthropy, wine making, science, fine arts, sailing… Each generation continues to enrich a family heritage that brings together modernity and elegance.

Château des Laurets

The passion for wine that runs in the French branch of the Rothschild family was born in 1868 when James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite. Baron Edmond de Rothschild, current EDR group president Benjamin’s father, began a new chapter in the family adventure in 1973 by acquiring two Crus Bourgeois: Château Clarke and Château Malmaison.

In the Bordeaux Region, Baron Benjamin de Rothschild discovered a property with remarkable potential, acquiring the superb Château des Laurets in the Saint-Emilion region in 2003. Today, Benjamin and his wife Ariane, among other members of the family, are a major shareholder of the legendary First Growth estate, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild.

Château Clarke

Château Clarke dates back to the 12th century, with monks originally tending the vines. After the purchase in 1973 by the Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the estate underwent full re-planting and expansion to 55 hectares. The wines produced today enjoy widespread prestige, high ratings, and enviable tasting notes, thanks, in part, to the extensive modernization overseen by Edmond de Rothschild’s son, Benjamin.

Chateau Malmaison

Also, on the left bank, and neighboring Château Clarke, Edmond de Rothschild purchased Château Malmaison. The vineyards were restored to its former glory, and the Baron named the wine after his spouse, the elegant Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, who created an enchanting garden there where roses and jacarandas have pride of place.

Château des Laurets

On the right bank, acquired more recently in 2003, the 19th century Château des Laurets overlooks 40 hectares of vines growing on a soil consisting of clay and limestone rock. Château des Laurets is a classic Merlot-Cabernet Franc blend from the St Emilion area. Already seen as a leader in its appellation, the Château is rapidly becoming a benchmark of quality for the AOC.

Exclusive Distribution of HINE Bonneuil Range by EMW in Mainland China

East Meets West Fine Wines, the certified high-end channel distributor of HINE Cognac, is pleased to announce the exclusive distribution of Hine Bonneuil Range within Mainland China. Spirit enthusiasts can easily purchase the amazing range by visiting HINE official online shop at or offline at recommended channels.

HINE Domaines Hine Bonneuil 2005/2006

Bonneuil is an unblended cognac from a single harvest, providing the purest and most accurate expression of the Grande Champagne’s chalky terroir. Its guiding philosophy is to remain as close as possible to the wine itself and reveal the distinct character of the soils from which the vines draw their identity. Having unveiled three vintages of Bonneuil range, HINE only produces less than 20 casks for each vintage with 450 bottles per cask. Every bottle wears unique birth code, indicating the cask it belongs to.

Having already released Bonneuil 2005 (18 casks) and Bonneuil 2006 (19 casks), Hine also unveiled Bonneuil 2008 in 2018. After a decade in oak cask, the latest Bonneuil sibling reveals aromas of cranberries, ripe apricot and mountain honey, giving a mouth-lingering taste. HINE Cognac insists on producing quality products and only releases the Bonneuil range from the outstanding vintage.

Domaines Hine Bonneuil 2008

The color of the packaging is chosen according to the dominant tasting notes of each of these one-of-a-kind cuvées. Bonneuil 2005 boasted fig aromas with hints of purple, while the sun-soaked Bonneuil 2006 radiated a warm, vibrant yellow. This time, the flavor of cranberry, inspired the coral container for Bonneuil 2008.

As the leading agency for HINE cognacs, EMW also exclusively distributes the H by Hine series in mainland China.

Products Exclusively Distributed by EMW:

Regular Products Distributed by EMW(including but not limited to):

Hine owns 100 hectares of vineyards in the region’s first growth, the Grande Champagne. Every year, a part of a vintage’s production is aged in the United Kingdom due to its unique ageing conditions imposing a singular aromatic profile to the cognacs. Hine is considered as one of the most delicate cognacs with the least wood influence, preserving the richness of the aromas of the eaux-de-vie. It combines elegance, finesse and lively floral notes that the Grande Champagne terroir initially imprints on the wines. Since 1962, Hine is the sole official supplier of cognac to the court of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, no other cognac house has been granted with the Royal Warrant.

The history of the Vietti winery traces its roots back to the 19th Century, created by Mario Vietti. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, however, did the Vietti name become a winery offering its own wines in bottle. With 35 hectares of vineyards, Vietti expects to not only increase production, but having greater control over the vineyards from a qualitative perspective.  Currado began making wine at the Vietti winery in 1960, following the death of his father-in-law Mario Vietti. Currado was one of the first Barolo winemakers to focus on single-vineyard wines. In the 1970s, Currado launched a series of artist labels that helped to redefine Barolo as a world-class appellation.

They have been steadfast to this commitment since 1972. Twomey Cellars was then established in 1999. The winery was found to explore and make the high-quality varieties other than Cabernet Sauvignon in California. Since 2012, Twomey has retained world-renowned consulting winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, the former winemaker at Château Petrus and the world’s standard-bearer for Merlot. John Duval

John Duval Wines is a premium wine producer located in the Barossa Valley. After 29 years as a winemaker with Penfolds, John Duval established his eponymous brand in 2003 and has created a range of wines under the family owned John Duval Wines label. Utilizing old vine Barossa fruit, the wines express the terroir of the Barossa and the hand-crafted attention of John Duval. A great thing for the Barossa is that we have the oldest vineyards in the world of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre. Some of the vineyards I use of Grenache and Mourvedre are over 100 years old. We have no phylloxera in the Barossa, and indeed South Australia,  so all these old vineyards are planted on their own roots.
